Screaming and Fury… Watch the heated exchange between two congressional lawmakers after discussing gun violence

Emotions were running high in the halls of Congress Wednesday, as lawmakers debated how to deal with the scourge of school shootings, which also now claimed six more lives on Monday.

The Democrats, unsurprisingly, were calling for more gun laws and stricter restrictions, while the Republicans naturally said, “No way.”

This led to a heated exchange between Republican Congressman from Kentucky Thomas Massie and Democrat Jamal Bowman from New York outside the Senate floor. Here is the text of the conversation that took place between them:

Jamal Bowman: They have control of the Senate. Americans need to know that they don’t have the guts to do anything to save children’s lives. More weapons lead to more death. Look at the data, you are not looking at any data.

Jamal Bowman: Do you hear what I’m saying?

Thomas Massey: Yes, calm down!

Jamal Bowman: just chill? Children die. Children 9 years old.

Thomas Massey: I know, I have a solution, I have a solution.

Jamal Bowman: The solution is not to arm the teachers. I was a teacher, I was a school counselor, and I was a middle school principal. I was in canteens protecting children every day of my career.

Thomas Massey: In every school that allows teachers to carry guns, shootings have never happened. It’s about time… We have guns here to protect us, and he doesn’t believe children should have someone to protect them.
