Arsenal’s first football team strengthened its lead in the Premier League standings, after beating its guest Leeds United 4-1, on Saturday, in the 29th round of the tournament.
Arsenal raised its tally to 72 points at the top of the standings after playing 29 games, 8 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who only played 28 games.
Arsenal’s quadruple came as a response to its rival City, who opened the same round competitions with a 4-1 victory over its guest Liverpool at the top of the round matches.
On the other hand, Leeds’ balance froze at 26 points, ranking seventeenth, by goal difference from Everton, who face Tottenham in the same round competitions, Monday.
Arsenal took the lead through Gabriel Jesus from a penalty kick in the 35th minute, before Ben White added the second goal in the 47th minute.
In the 55th minute, Jesus returned to score his second goal and the third for Arsenal, while Leeds United narrowed the difference with a goal scored by Rasmus Christensen in the 76th minute, and Arsenal’s Granit Shaka scored the fourth goal for his team in the 84th minute.
In other matches within the same round, Bournemouth overturned its deficit with a goal to win 2-1 at home to Fulham, Brighton snatched an exciting 3-3 draw with Brentford, and Wolverhampton managed to get away with a point from the land of its host Nottingham Forest after a 1-1 draw with him, and snatched Crystal Palace defeated Leicester City 2-1.
