Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez revealed that his team will enter the semi-finals of the King’s Cup against Real Madrid in a good position, but he considers the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team to be the favorite to reach the final match.
The two rivals will meet at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, on Thursday, in a match out of three matches between them within a month, as they will meet in the League Championship during the two-legged matches before the Cup Final.
Barcelona won two out of four matches against Real Madrid since Xavi took charge, including winning 4-0 in the league championship last season, and winning 3-1 in the Spanish Super Cup last January.
Barcelona also leads the La Liga standings by seven points from Real Madrid, but Xavi believes that Real Madrid’s status as champions of the League and Europe makes them favorites to win.
“Madrid will continue to play as a favorite because they are champions of La Liga and the Champions League, regardless of what happened in the Super Cup, in which we played well, or any other factors,” Xavi told a press conference.
The Barcelona coach added, “We may have beaten them in the Super Cup, but this is Madrid. I have to be honest, but I think we can launch effective attacks, and I expect even a draw.”
