With the advance of the Russian forces, orders are issued to a Ukrainian reconnaissance unit to leave Bakhmut immediately

(CNN) — Robert Brophy, commander of the Ukrainian reconnaissance unit “The Madiar birds”, said in a video clip broadcast on his Telegram channel that the unit, which is based in Pakhmut in eastern Ukraine, had received orders to leave the city.

Brovdi added in a video clip published on Friday: “In the middle of the night, the “Madiar birds” unit received a combat order to leave Bakhmut immediately to a new place for combat operations.

Brovdi explained that he did not know the reason for moving the unit. “We are following the order,” he added.

Russian forces managed to advance towards Bakhmut over the past few days, after months of intense bombing and fighting around the stricken city.

Ukrainian officials have said they will continue to defend the city, but not at any price, indicating that they may withdraw if necessary.
