For the first time since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 30 years ago, a Saudi foreign minister visited Ukraine.
The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a video clip of him meeting Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
“This is the first official visit of the foreign minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relations. I expect that it will provide a new impetus for the intensification of mutually beneficial dialogue,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky added, “Thank you for supporting peace in Ukraine and our sovereignty and territorial integrity! This is very important to us and our society.”
Saudi Arabia has pursued a neutral course in the conflict and brokered a prisoner exchange last year, in which two US citizens and five Britons were released from Russian detention.
