(CNN) — The US State Department, Thursday, imposed sanctions on a number of companies for their “involvement in exporting Iranian oil”, in violation of US sanctions.
“These actions underscore our ongoing efforts to enforce our sanctions on Iran,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
“We will not hesitate to take action against those who try to circumvent our sanctions,” he added.
The new sanctions come as Iran continues to flout the nuclear deal, wage a brutal crackdown on protesters and provide drones to Russia for use in its war on Ukraine.
