Last January, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the year 2023 as the year of sustainability, in the culmination of the extensive efforts that the UAE is making locally, regionally and internationally to protect the climate and diversify the economy with the aim of a sustainable future, prior to hosting the Conference of the Parties in November / October. next.
The mission added, “Climate change poses a major challenge, and climate action is the best opportunity for all to achieve inclusive growth and prosperity, and we will work to bring all stakeholders together, in order to reactivate climate action, and ensure a comprehensive approach to climate, peace, security, food systems, water, nature, health, and relief.” humanity,” the mission said on Twitter.
The UAE recently announced that the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, was assigned as appointed president of the twenty-eighth session of the COP28 conference.
She also announced the appointment of Shamma bint Suhail bin Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, as a “climate pioneer for youth in the conference,” and Razan Al Mubarak, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, as a climate pioneer in COP28, which will be hosted by the UAE.
These UAE moves come as part of its preparations to prepare for the COP28 Conference of the Parties, to face the negative effects that the world suffers from due to severe climate changes, the challenges facing global energy security, and the efforts of the countries of the world to reduce the planet’s temperature and reduce carbon emissions that cause global warming.
