The Pentagon confirmed to CNN that it should have known about a data leak coming from one of its email servers long before that. It took two weeks for the Department of Defense to realize that a batch of unclassified emails was out there on the open Internet.
It is not uncommon for computer servers to expose data in large organizations. But this is a US Army organization and that server had emails that sometimes contained some sensitive information.
So this is something that the Pentagon has been investigating for the last several days, but it’s really the first time on Thursday night, that they admitted to CNN that they should have known this in advance and they knew what they had to do in terms of changing their cyber security protocols to not let this happen. once again.
