The Moroccan Royal Court responds to the statement of the “Justice and Development” party on Israel

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Moroccan Royal Court said, on Monday, that “the recent statement of the Justice and Development Party regarding relations between Morocco and Israel includes irresponsible excesses and serious fallacies,” according to a statement of the court published by the MAP.

In its statement, the Moroccan Royal Court stated, “The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party recently issued a statement containing some irresponsible abuses and serious fallacies, with regard to relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel, and linking them to the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

The Royal Court statement confirmed that “Morocco’s position on the Palestinian issue is irreversible, and it is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the King, Commander of the Faithful, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, who placed it in the rank of the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. It is a firm principled position for Morocco, not subject to political bidding or campaigns.” the narrow electoral process,” according to what was reported by the Moroccan Agency.

The statement added, “Secondly: The kingdom’s foreign policy is the prerogative of the king, by virtue of the constitution, and he manages it based on the national constants and the supreme interests of the country, foremost of which is the issue of territorial integrity.”

And the statement continued: “The Kingdom’s international relations cannot be the subject of blackmail from anyone and for any consideration, especially in this complex international circumstance. Hence, the exploitation of the Kingdom’s foreign policy for an internal partisan agenda constitutes a dangerous and unacceptable precedent.”

The statement stated that “the resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel took place in known circumstances and in a context known to all, and is framed by the statement issued by the Royal Court on December 10, 2020, and the statement published on the same day following the phone call between the King and the Palestinian President, as well as the tripartite declaration.” of December 22, 2020, which was signed before the King.

The statement concluded by saying: “At that time, political forces and parties, some leading personalities, and some bodies concerned with the Palestinian cause were informed of this decision, as they expressed their involvement and commitment to it.”

Last week, the General Secretariat of the “Justice and Development” party, which led the Moroccan government in two previous sessions, issued a statement criticizing Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, accusing him of defending Israel “in some African and European meetings” without denouncing its practices in the territories.

And the “Justice and Development” renewed its rejection of any meeting in the presence of Israel, in reference to the Kingdom of Morocco’s hosting of the “Negev 2” summit this March.

In a recent statement, what is known as the Executive Office of the “Tawhid and Reform” movement and the “National Secretariat of the National Action Group for Palestine” considered that “Morocco’s embrace of the so-called (Negev Summit 2) constitutes a dangerous episode in the path of normalization and engagement in the alliance of printing states.” With Israel under the auspices of the American administration.
