The Israeli army sends three battalions to increase security checks in Nablus

Jerusalem, Israel (CNN) — The Israeli army has sent three battalions to the West Bank, according to a statement issued by the army Monday, in the wake of retaliatory attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians after two Israelis were shot dead on Sunday.

Settler attacks, on Sunday night, left at least one Palestinian dead and several wounded in Hawara, south of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli army confirmed in a statement that it would “increase security checks on the roads leading to and from Nablus.”

The Israeli army refused to comment on the number of soldiers in the three battalions.

And the Israeli army said earlier, Sunday, that “a terrorist arrived at the Einbus junction and opened fire at an Israeli car.”

The Israeli army added that two Israelis were wounded and taken to hospital, adding that it was pursuing the attacker.
