Romanian Marius Somodica, coach of Al-Raed football team, expressed his happiness at the draw with Al-Ittihad, revealing that he promised his players a special reward from him if they win or tie in this match.
The Al-Qassim team imposed a tie on Al-Ittihad, its host, with a score of “0-0”, on Thursday, in the “Foundation Day” round competitions, the 18th of the Saudi Roshan League.
Somodica said in the press conference after the end of the match: “The players succeeded in implementing what we planned for, and succeeded in closing the game on one of the best teams in the Saudi League, and this is the spirit that I am looking for from the players of the team, and I am happy to draw and get the point.”
He added, “The two teams did not get serious chances, except for Al-Ittihad’s chance at the post, and my team’s players love to play under great public pressure, and today I lost an amount because I promised the players a reward from me in the event of a tie or victory over Al-Ittihad.”
Somodica expressed his sadness at the exit of Al-Shabab, his former team, from the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League, stressing that his arrival to advanced stages in the tournament came as a result of his work during his supervision of his training.
