Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi authorities carried out the death penalty, on Saturday, against a Saudi national who “embraced the takfiri approach in support of terrorist acts,” and killed a security man while trying to blow up an oil facility, according to a statement by the Saudi Ministry of Interior.
The statement of the Saudi Ministry of Interior said that the ruling on the punishment of haraba was imposed on “Muhammad bin Abdul Raziq bin Saad Faydi – a Saudi national”, in the Jeddah governorate, in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region.
The statement indicated that he assaulted a security man while he was performing his work and killed him deliberately and aggressively by shooting him, and shooting at a number of security patrols and security men while they were performing their work duties, and entering an oil facility and setting it on fire with the intention of detonating it.
In addition to “purchasing and possessing weapons and ammunition and training in them to attack, corrupt and breach security, adopting the takfiri approach in support of the terrorist acts that the country witnessed and praising their perpetrators,” according to the Saudi Ministry of Interior statement.
After charges were brought against him in connection with the incident and he was referred to the competent court, “a ruling was issued against him… to establish the punishment of warfare against him, and that it be in his minority, and this was supported by his authority, and a royal order was issued to implement what was decided by law and was supported by his authority against the offender.”
The Saudi authorities did not provide further details about when the incident occurred.
