“Putin will not escape accountability.” A retired colonel talks to CNN about Ukraine’s war crimes

Retired Colonel Yevgeny “Eugene” Vindman told CNN’s Jim Acosta that there is mounting evidence of war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine, and he said those responsible will be held accountable.

“What we’re looking for there are indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets and civilians, because it’s a violation of a very important fundamental principle of war called ‘distinction’ where you can’t attack civilians and civilian targets. And our group is helping the Ukrainian government investigate that,” he added.

He also stated that “Putin and his direct aides, officers and military who are waging this struggle” will never escape accountability for their crimes, no matter how long it takes.
