One person was killed and 69 injured in the preliminary outcome of the latest aftershock to hit Turkey

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – A new aftershock of 5.6 degrees on the Richter scale occurred in the Turkish state of Malatya, on Monday, killing one person, injuring 69 others, and the collapse of several buildings as a result of the earthquake.According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in a preliminary toll.

The official Turkish news agency Anatolia quoted “AFAD” as confirming that “an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the province of Malatya, on Monday noon.”

AFAD indicated that a number of buildings collapsed as a result of the aftershock in Malatya, explaining that relief teams are heading to the area, and confirmed the death of one person and the injury of 69 others in the Malatya earthquake.

Earlier Sunday, the head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, Yunus Sezer, announced that the death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6 had risen to 44,374.
