On the anniversary of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Arsenal supports his player with an “extraordinary gesture”

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The English club Arsenal was keen to support the Ukrainian team player, Oleksandr Zinchenko, by giving him the captaincy, on the first anniversary of the Russian war on Ukraine.

And the “Gunners” announced, through its accounts on social media, that the Ukrainian full-back (26 years old) will be the captain of the team against Leicester City, on Saturday evening.

“Zinchenko will wear our captain’s armband today as a sign of respect and love on the first anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine,” Arsenal said.

Zinchenko had previously expressed his solidarity with his country during his appearance in the English stadiums, after it entered into a conflict with Russia in February 2022.

Zinchenko and his comrades defeated Leicester City with a free goal, at the “King Power” stadium, in the 25th week of the English Premier League.

This was Zinchenko’s 17th game in the “Gunners” shirt in the (Premier League) competition, this season.
