Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Norway national football team announced, on Tuesday, the absence of Erling Haaland from the team during the international break in March, due to a thigh injury.
The 22-year-old striker had participated, until the 63rd minute, against Manchester City and Burnley, in the FA Cup competition, last Saturday.
The Norway national team will miss the services of its player in the Spain and Georgia matches on the 25th and 28th of this month, as part of the first and second rounds of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
“Haaland suffered some pain in his groin after the match against Burnley,” Norway said in a statement, adding: “After taking tests yesterday, it became clear that he will not participate in the matches against Spain and Georgia.”
While “Euro Sport” stated that the injury would keep Erling Haaland away from the green rectangle for at least a week.
Haaland scored 42 goals in 37 matches with Manchester City in various competitions this season.
Previously, the Norwegian striker participated with his country in 23 international matches, during which he scored 21 goals.
