Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine national football team, invited Lionel Messi, the captain and playmaker of Paris Saint-Germain, to play the two international test matches for the world champion against Panama and Curaçao at the end of March.
Scaloni summoned 35 players to the first two meetings after being crowned world champion in the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year, including the pillars Angel Di Maria (Italian Juventus), Rodrigo de Paul (Atletico Madrid of Spain) and Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan of Italy).
Villarreal midfielder Giovani Lo Celso returned to the squad after missing the World Cup due to injury.
Argentina will host Panama on March 23 at the “Mas Monumental” stadium in Buenos Aires, then Curaçao on the 28th of it in Santiago del Estero.
Argentina ranks second in the world rankings after Brazil and ahead of France, Panama ranks 61st and Curaçao 86th.
