Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Argentine Football Association announced, through its accounts on social media, on Monday, the renewal of coach Lionel Scaloni’s contract with the national team until 2026.
And the Argentine Federation reached an agreement with the 44-year-old coach, according to which the latter would continue in technical management until after the 2026 World Cup.
Scaloni had supervised the training of Lionel Messi’s comrades in 2018, succeeding Jorge Sampaoli.
Scaloni succeeded in returning the “Tango” to the podiums, by winning the 2021 Copa America.
The Argentine coach also returned the World Cup title to his country’s coffers after an absence of 36 years, after winning the largest world championships that were held in Qatar, at the expense of the French national team.
Scaloni’s journey with “Tango” witnessed the achievement of a series of defeats for 36 matches in a row, and it ended at the hands of the Saudi national team in the opening of the two teams’ journey in the 2022 World Cup.
