Technology company Meta has released a new tool, developed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, on Facebook and Instagram called Take it Down that it says will help prevent explicit images of teens and young children being uploaded by unknown people from spreading. without their consent and permission.
This new tool is for teens who may have shared an intimate photo and are now worried that someone will actually share that photo online without their permission.
The tool’s database is operated by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Since 2016, the NCMEC Guideline has received more than 260,000 reports of online solicitations, including sextortion.
