Veteran Spaniard Rafael Nadal, injured, will miss the American Indian Wells tournament for the 1,000-point Masters in tennis, which starts next week, as announced by the organizers on Tuesday.
Nadal, crowned 3 times in Indian Wells and winner of 22 major titles, suffers from a leg injury he suffered during the Australian Open, the first of the four Grand Slams, and it was announced at the time that he would be absent from 6 to 8 weeks, the day after his exit from the second round in Melbourne in last January.
And the tournament’s account was transferred on “Twitter”, the social networking site: “The three-time champion of the Indian Wells tournament announced his withdrawal from the 2023 edition.”
Nadal reached the final of the Indian Wells tournament last year.
Nadal’s participation in the Miami tournament, which follows Indian Wells directly, has also not been confirmed. Perhaps the goal of the Spanish matador is to be ready for the clay court season in preparation for the Roland Garros tournament in May, as he seeks to win his fifteenth title.
Nadal is equal in the number of major titles in the Grand Slam tournaments with Serbian Novak Djokovic, with 22 titles each.
