Atlanta, USA (CNN) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Thursday with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Chen Gang on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in India.
After the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying: “There was a unanimous refusal on both sides to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, or to impose unilateral approaches using blackmail and threats, or to oppose the democratization of international relations.”
Qin said Beijing supports any efforts conducive to peace in Ukraine and will continue to play a constructive role in this regard, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry statement.
The two sides stressed cooperation and coordination and strengthening strategic communication, according to the Chinese and Russian statements.
The foreign ministers of the two countries expressed their “satisfaction with the rapid pace of development of bilateral political dialogue and practical cooperation, and special emphasis was placed on how the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries will progress,” according to the Russian Foreign Ministry statement.
