He chose to shoot and was killed.. Thus ended the exchange of fire between officers and a suspect in America

Footage released Tuesday shows the shootout between Robert Atkins, 44, and 5 Jeffersonville police officers on March 9 at the Eastlawn Arms apartment complex.

Where Jeffersonville police responded to a report and went to the area within minutes and spoke with an eyewitness who saw the suspect, then the situation escalated, and the police said that Atkins fired his weapon.

Two minutes later, three officers shot and wounded Atkins at least twice, and he died two days later in hospital.

“The shooting was justified, and Atkins posed an imminent danger to the five officers,” said Police Chief Kenny Cavanaugh, noting that the officers “did everything in their power to resolve the matter peacefully.”
