Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Some people with diabetes undergo treatment by using insulin pens. However, most of them do not know the correct way to use and store them, which must be followed to ensure health safety.
And the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, through its official account on the “Facebook” website, published 7 steps to store and use insulin pens correctly, as follows:
The pen is not stored with an attached needle
Follow the storage instructions on the packaging that came with the insulin
Unopened pens can be stored in the refrigerator until ready to use
Store the insulin pen in a cool, dry place (between 2-8°C)
Do not leave the insulin pen in direct sunlight
Dispose of frozen pens or those exposed to temperatures above 30°C
Keep the pen in a cool box when traveling
