Dubai Tournament.. Medvedev snatches the third title within 3 weeks

Russian Daniil Medvedev continued his strong performances in recent times and won his third title in the last three weeks by being crowned champion of the Dubai Tennis Championships after defeating his compatriot Andrei Rublev easily 6-2, 6-2 in the final match, Saturday.
The title is the third in a row for Medvedev, after also heading in the Rotterdam and Doha tournaments in the past two weeks, raising his tally to 14 consecutive victories.
Medvedev said after his victory: «It is wonderful because the beginning of the year was not good for me».
He added, “In tennis, when you don’t win matches, doubt creeps into yourself no matter what happens during training..I doubted myself a lot, but now I feel very comfortable. I am very happy with my performance over the past three weeks and I look forward to the coming weeks.”
Medvedev had eliminated the obstacle of Serbian Novak Djokovic, the Australian Open champion earlier this year and the world number one in the semi-finals, before defeating Rublev, the Dubai Championship holder last season, in the final.
The victory is the fourth in a row for Medvedev over a player ranked among the top ten, after losing nine times in a row to them.
For his part, Rublev praised his compatriot, saying: “I have never said this to Daniel, but I have very great respect for him.. I was running my first final this year and I was exhausted at a time when he won three titles in a row.”
It is noteworthy that Medvedev started the match quickly and succeeded in breaking his compatriot’s serve to advance 3-1, then excelled once again to make the score 5-2, before ending the first set in his favor in 36 minutes.
Medvedev broke Rublev’s serve in the fifth game of the second set to lead 3-2 before winning the next three games to claim the title.
