Argentine Hernan Crespo, coach of the first Qatari football team Al Duhail, confirmed that he knows well his compatriot Ramon Diaz, coach of Al Hilal, describing the confrontation of the two teams, Sunday, in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League, as a “beautiful story” between two coaches who made history in the Argentine River Plate.
Crespo had a professional experience with the Argentine River Plate under the supervision of his compatriot Diaz, and crowned him with the Libertadores Cup in 1996.
Crespo said at the press conference, on Saturday, to talk about the Al-Hilal meeting: “Diaz and I made history in River Plate, and he is a great and ancient coach, and I respect him for his coaching history.”
The Al-Duhail coach stressed the need for his players to present their best against Al-Hilal, the “defending champion”, in order to reach the final, and explained: “If we want to win the Asian Championship, we must do our best against the champion of the last edition.”
The Argentine coach concluded: “Al-Hilal is a difficult competitor and has great experience in the finals. It beat Brazilian Flamengo, and played a more than wonderful match against Real Madrid in the Club World Cup.”
