Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The next time you think about buying fish, there are some tips that you should take into account, according to what the Saudi Public Health Authority said, in a tweet through its official account on the “Twitter” site.

Fish should only be purchased chilled or offered on a thick layer of ice
The smell of the fish should be fresh and light, not acidic or ammonia-like
The eyes of the fish should be clear and shiny
Whole fish should have firm flesh and red gills with no odor. Fresh fillets should have firm flesh and red streaks
The fish fillets should not show any discoloration, dark colors, or dryness on the edges
The shrimp and lobster meat should be clear, pearly in color, and have little or no odor

Earlier, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population warned against eating or catching a fish known as “the deadliest fish in the world”, in a tweet on its official page on “Twitter”.

The fish is known as the loan, the rabbit fish, or the puff.

The fish is distinguished by its gray skin, and it contains poisonous glands under the skin, viscera, marrow, liver, and meat.

As for the poison in the fish, which is called “tetrodotoxin”, there is no cure for it yet.

This fish is found in the Red Sea and oceans, and it reached the waters of the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.

It lives at the bottom of the seas, and feeds on fish waste and types of toxic algae.

Symptoms of poisoning begin to appear within a period ranging between 20 minutes and an hour of eating this fish, and the appearance of symptoms may be delayed until after two days.

The venom of this fish can lead to death within 6 to 8 hours.

Symptoms of poisoning include:

abdominal pain
Nausea and vomiting
Muscle weakness and paralysis
Reduction of Blood pressure
Decreased heart rate
body numbness
shortness of breath
Paralysis or coma
