Chivontec withdraw from the Miami tournament

Polish world number one Iga Schwontec announced her withdrawal from the 1,000 Miami Games, due to a rib injury, as she revealed on Wednesday.
Chivontec said on her social media accounts: “In the Doha tournament, I got an infection, and through my severe coughing, I injured my ribs. I tried to manage this injury and was able to continue playing as long as it was not serious.”
And she added, “But unfortunately, I constantly feel discomfort and pain, and therefore I cannot play the Miami tournament and the Billie Jean King Cup. It is a difficult decision, but health is a priority. I will keep you posted on where I will play in the future, because it is related to the extent of the recovery and the instructions of my medical staff.” .
Chivontec also indicated that it will miss the Billie Jean King Cup, which will be held in Kazakhstan on April 14 and 15, when the Polish national team will face its Belarusian counterpart.
And Chivontec admitted, after losing to Belarusian Elena Rybakina 2-6, 2-6 in the semi-finals of the Indian Wells tournament last week, that she was not in full physical fitness during the match, and said at the time that she would discuss the matter with her medical staff.
The defending champion, Chiwentek, was scheduled to meet in Miami last year with American Claire Leo on Thursday, and Austrian Julia Grabher would replace her.
