China: Our defense budget is lower than the global average and has been stable for years

Beijing, China (CNN) – China announced, on Saturday, that the proportion of gross domestic product allocated to the country’s defense budget is lower than the global average, and that it has remained stable over the past few years.

This came during statements by Wang Zhao, a spokesman for the National People’s Congress (Parliament), during a press conference he held, during which he discussed the details of the meeting of the National People’s Congress, which is scheduled to start on Sunday, and its timetable.

“China’s defense spending, as a percentage of GDP, has remained stable over the years,” Wang added.

“Defense spending remains basically stable, lower than the global average, with a relatively moderate and reasonable growth rate,” Wang said.
