Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Pakistani authorities announced that at least 4 people were killed and 10 others injured in an explosion in a market in the southwestern Baluchistan province of Pakistan.
Abdullah Khoso, deputy commissioner of Barkhan district, where the market is located, confirmed that no motive behind the explosion has been clarified so far, but police and other law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area to launch investigations into the incident.
He explained that an explosive device planted on a motorcycle exploded outside a barber shop inside the market. Those injured in the blast have been taken to hospital.
For his part, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizengo, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life as a result of the blast.
He directed Balochistan’s Interior Ministry and Police to re-evaluate the security plan in the context of recent terror incidents. “A more effective strategy against terrorism will be adopted,” he said.
