Arsenal lose Tomiyasu until the end of the season

Arsenal, the leaders of the English Premier League, announced on Tuesday that Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will be out for the end of the season after suffering a knee injury.
Right-back Tomiasso was injured during Arsenal’s Europa League round of 16 match against Portuguese Sporting, after he slipped badly and suffered a knee injury.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said at the time that he was very concerned because the 24-year-old Japan international was the type of player who did not exaggerate injuries.
“Tomiyasu underwent successful surgery in London on Tuesday and will be out for the rest of the season,” Arsenal said in a statement.
Arsenal were eliminated from the European League by penalty kicks, but they are still at the top of the English Premier League, 8 points behind Manchester City, who has a postponed match.
The north London club also lost the efforts of defender William Saliba due to a back injury in the same match, and the French national team decided to replace the player for their next two matches in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.
