Atlanta, USA (CNN) — Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin confirmed, Friday, in his daily briefing that China is ready to play a constructive role in resolving issues between Ukraine and Russia, without providing concrete details on that.
This response, which represents a sentence that China repeats when asked about its position on the war on Ukraine, came as a result of questions about the “position document” that China recently published and consisted of 12 items.
“We have always held that all efforts conducive to a peaceful solution to the crisis should be encouraged and supported,” Wang said.
“Based on the position document presented for a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, China is ready to continue working with the international community to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
China’s Foreign Ministry reiterated its calls for a political settlement in Ukraine through a 12-point document that called for the resumption of peace talks and an end to unilateral sanctions and stressed its opposition to the use of nuclear weapons.
