Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Uruguayan player Edinson Cavani was keen to congratulate his former teammate, Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, after he became Paris Saint-Germain’s top scorer throughout history.
Mbappe topped the Parisian club’s top scorer table with 201 goals after playing 274 matches, surpassing Cavani, who scored 200 goals in 301 matches.
The Uruguayan striker wrote on his Instagram account: “Congratulations Kylian Mbappe on your new record, bring the Paris Saint-Germain fans to the summit,” while the French striker reacted with an emoji.
Cavani played next to Mbappe between 2018 and 2020, and crowned the team with a number of titles in local competitions.
Cavani, 36, wears the Valencia club shirt this season, and has contributed to 6 goals in the La Liga competition, while Kylian Mbappe, 24, has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2025.
