The first Moroccan football team, Wydad, “the defending champion”, achieved its first victory in the African Champions League, after defeating its guest “1-0” against Angolan guest Petro Atletico, on Friday, in the third round for the first group account.
Yahya Gebran scored the only goal of the match for the landowners from a penalty kick in the 34th minute, giving his team the first three points in the group stage, after losing to Algeria’s JS Kabylie “0-1” in the last round.
With the victory, the Moroccan team revived its chances of snatching one of the two qualifying cards to the quarter-finals, while the Angolan team received its first loss after a victory and a draw. But he remained in second place with 4 points.
