A helicopter carrying Iran’s sports minister crashed in the country’s southeast on Thursday, killing two people and injuring 16 others including the sports minister, according to the official IRNA news agency.
And the Iranian authorities said, “A helicopter carrying Iranian Sports Minister Hamid Sajadi and his accompanying delegation crashed while landing in a stadium in the city of Baft, in the center of the country, on Thursday.”
The agency added that among the dead was Ismail Ahmadi, assistant minister of sports.
“The Minister of Sports was hit in the head and hand and is suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was reportedly taken to a hospital in Sirjan,” health officials told IRNA.
According to the official Iranian channel “Press TV”, quoting the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority, the Iranian Red Crescent Society will conduct an investigation into the causes of the helicopter crash.
She added that the Minister of Sports and his accompanying delegation were planning to visit Baft in the Iranian province of Kerman “to open new sports facilities in the Reggio Sport area.”
