A Saudi academic talks about the importance of “objectivity” in the “Muawiya” series, and wonders: Do they take revenge on him because he competed with someone who is “more honorable than him in lineage”?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi academic, Turki Al-Hamad, expressed, on Tuesday, his wishes that the “Muawiya” series, which will be shown by “MBC” during the month of Ramadan, be “objective” in the presentation, without exaggeration in praise or slander.

Al-Hamad said on his documented page on Twitter: “I hope that the series “Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan”, which will be shown in the coming month of Ramadan, will be at exorbitant costs. Praising or slandering one of the most prominent personalities in the history of Arabs and Muslims, whether you agree with her, honor her, or disagree with her, curse her.

And the Saudi academic continued, saying: “In all cases, the man remains a landmark in our history, and even in the history of world politics. But there are groups and groups, and out of ideological grounds, the concepts of the present fall on the past, and the past on the present, or sectarianism that transmits its historical grievances from generation to generation, You see that such a series awakens strife and fuels sectarian conflict.”

And Al-Hamad added, “As long as it does not conform to their principles and beliefs, the question remains in the end: What do they resent against Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan? Do they resent him for competing with someone who is “more honorable” than him by lineage and pious over political power and the “great imam” in the caliphate state? And we mean Ali bin Abi Talib, and that he used “political tricks,” as he put it.

The announcement of showing the series on the Saudi channel sparked widespread controversy, after the leader of the Sadrist movement and the Iraqi cleric, Moqtada al-Sadr, objected to its presentation and considered that it “contradicts Saudi Arabia’s policy of neutrality,” while the “MBC” channel refrained from responding to CNN’s request to comment on the matter. .

It is noteworthy that the series “Muawiya” will include a group of prominent actors, and the role of Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, the Syrian actor, will be played by Loujain Ismail.
