A French court sentences Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to 6 years in prison for sexual assault

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – A French court in Paris sentenced Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to 6 years in prison on charges of raping and assaulting a young French woman in a hotel room in the capital in October 2016, according to BMFTV. French affiliate with CNN.

BMFTV reported that after seven hours of deliberation, the court said it was “convinced” that the rape had occurred, which has been described “with exact consistency” by civil prosecutor Laura Priolle since her complaint.

And the French channel added that when the verdict was pronounced, Saad Lamjarred got up, pale in color, but did not show any reaction, while Laura Priolle embraced her mother for a long time while she was crying.

The French prosecution had demanded Lamjarred’s imprisonment for a period of 7 years, while Saad Lamjarred denied raping the French young woman or having sexual relations with her, and said that he pushed her on her face after he felt a “painful scratch” on his back in an “involuntary reaction.”
