In February, former Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick was sentenced to 36 life sentences as Carrick abused his profession in the forces to coerce and attack women.
Carrick was a member of a rare armed section of the United Kingdom Police, tasked with defending prominent government buildings and ministers, and used his gun to threaten his victims.
After Carrick pleaded guilty to 71 sexual offences, the Metropolitan Police admitted that Carrick had mentioned offenses to them and to other forces nine times.
Of the 573 Metropolitan Police officers accused of sexual offenses by the public over an 11-year period, only two have been convicted.
Since Carrick’s ruling, more potential victims have come forward to the police. While the Center for Women’s Justice told CNN that some of Carrick’s victims are now considering filing a class action lawsuit against the Metropolitan Police.
